Right on Girl!!!! I don't see any tree huggers up on the fire line protecting the trees when the forest is on fire.  You can't find the sorry bastards any where when the woods are ablaze.  Their hands are turned the wrong way for work.  That fire hoe and axe won't be found in their hands.  They are what you call hypocrites.  Say one thing and do another.

Ed in Phoenix

PS. The whole valley is bone dry and a real tinder box.  We need rain bad!!!!

The greenies are happy that no one made a profit from the woods that burned. That is the primary motivation of most of the Sierra Club type - first take the people away from the woods, then take the woods away from the people.

Take bus, see employment folk.

Nice man treat me good in there,

Say I need to see welfare.

Welfare say, "You come no more,

We send cash right to your door."

Welfare checks, they make you wealthy,

Medicaid it keep you healthy!

By and by, I got plenty money,

Thanks to you, American dummy.

Write to friends in motherland,

Tell them come as fast as you can.

They come in rags and Chebby trucks,

I buy big house with welfare bucks.

They come here, we live together,

More welfare checks, it gets better!

Fourteen families they moving in,

But neighbor's patience wearing thin.

Finally, white guy moves away,

Now I buy his house, and then I say,

"Find more aliens for house to rent."

And in the yard I put a tent.

Send for family (they just trash),

But they, too, draw the welfare cash!

Everything is mucho good,

And soon we own the neighborhood.

We have hobby--it's called breeding,

Welfare pay for baby feeding.

Kids need dentist? Wife need pills?

We get free! We got no bills!

American crazy! He pay all year,

To keep welfare running here.

We think America darn good place!

Too darn good for the white man race.

If they no like us, they can go,

Got lots of room in Mexico.

Equality at Last! Reply to: steele@conspiracypenpal.com
Equality at last!
by Edgar J. Steele
June 24, 2002

I've given it a lot of thought and decided to get on board with equality, diversity and affirmative action. I think the world will be a much better place once we are all truly equal.  So, right away, I'm calling for true equality in all things for all people everywhere in America.

Lessee now, blacks represent about 12% of the population, last time I checked, with Latinos at about 13% and Asians of one flavor or another at about 15%.  That means the Lakers will immediately have to drop several players from their roster and add a few others to meet the letter of the law in regard to true equality. Affirmative action should require a distribution of heights more closely conforming to that found in each
population segment, too. Every time the ball moves up and down the court, I want to see six white guys and at least one Asian handing off to a Latino.  In fact, affirmative action should require that many of the new hoop stars have to be midgets.

And pro football - sorry, guys, but you're just gonna have to lavish those outlandish salaries on guys named Jose and Fred, too. I can hear it now: "And Chi Chan Chang throws a brutal downfield cross body block...Juan Hernandez laterals to Fred O'Hara just as he is forced out of bounds...O'Hara scores!"

Welfare will be much more fairly distributed, what with 60% of it going to white people, of course.  Scholarships will have to be equally distributed, according to skin color, with affirmative action demanding a disproportionate number awarded to stupid people of every stripe. Football scholarships will have to go, in the main, to geeky little white guys wearing wire-rimmed glasses.

And it just isn't fair that smart people get all the best grades, so they will have to be given harder exam questions. Minimum of twelve-syllables for all spelling bee words thrown at Merit Scholars...that sort of thing.

Government at every level will be required to replace current employees until at least 60% in each and every department has a white face.  The employment opportunities for whites at airport security details alone are overwhelming.

Crime is tough, but we will just have to fund government programs designed to ensure that 60% of all crime is committed by white people.  Rape - that will be toughest of all, but I just know that all those new Black victims, especially in prison, will bend to the greater good of society in the name of true equality.  Interracial crime undoubtedly will be the most difficult to fully integrate, since it will be necessary for a great many whites to give up their careers as surgeons and accountants and go into the rackets full time, thus ensuring a fifty-fold increase in white on black crime, thereby bringing it into conformity with today's black on white crime statistics.

Perhaps we could station government employees on street corners during riots to ensure that 60% of the color TVs are borne away by white folks.  We will need emergency funding at the federal level just to properly equip white crack dealers and pimps, what with the price of gold for chains and teeth skyrocketing at present.  The murder rate bothers me the most, because once we get whitey busy eliminating blacks at the same rate white people have been getting knifed, shot, strangled and beaten for years, it is entirely possible that we could run out of blacks altogether in a matter of months.  Then we would have massive unemployment as whites are thrown out of work from their jobs dealing crack and collecting welfare. Of course, we will have been having trouble getting enough unemployment checks into white hands, anyway, so maybe that is a proper result.

Now we're cooking! Come to think of it, this equality thing has real possibilities. For example, is it really fair that only the good-looking guys get all the babes?

ONE SENTENCE SERMONS – From The Wise one

======================

Be Fishers of Men.... You catch 'em, He'll clean 'em.

A family altar can alter a family.

A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing.

Don't put a question mark where God put a period.

Don't wait for six strong men to take you to church.

Exercise daily. Walk with the Lord!

Forbidden fruits create many jams.

Give God what's right, not what's left!

Give Satan an inch and he'll be a ruler.

God doesn't call the qualified; He qualifies the called.

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

Having truth decay? Brush up on your Bible!

He who angers you, controls you!

He who is good at making excuses is seldom good for anything else.

He who kneels before God can stand before anyone!

Kindness is difficult to give away because it keeps coming back.

Most people want to serve God, but only in an advisory capacity.

Never give the devil a ride! He will always want to drive!

Nothing ruins the truth like stretching it.

Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the ark.

"Pray" is a four-letter word that you can say anywhere.

Prayer - Don't give God instructions - just report for duty!

The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

To be almost saved is to be totally lost.

WARNING: Exposure to the Son may prevent burning!

Watch your step carefully! Everyone else does!

We don't change the message; the message changes us.

For your perusal.  Tax dollars at work, or, rather, the result of the welfare state?  I do believe there is proposed legislation currently in Congress that attempts to further "legalize" federalization of so-called "sustainable deveolpment".

And Also – Another "sustainable" whatever.  Do you know who is involved here and where they get their money for land purchases and operations in general? (kahunas probably bring in six figures salaries)

This is just too good not to post, folks.  From Bill and John – (We are currently trying to find the original source to give full credit.)

USMC Gen. Hawley's Comments:

Since the attack, I have seen, heard, and read thoughts of such surpassing stupidity that they must be addressed. You've heard them too.  Here they are:

1)      "We're not good, they're not evil, everything is relative."

Listen carefully: We're good, they're evil, nothing is relative. Say it with me now and free yourselves. You see, folks, saying, "We're good," doesn't mean, "We're perfect." Okay? The only perfect being is the bearded guy on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.  The plain fact is that our country, with all our mistakes and blunders, has always been and always will be the greatest beacon of freedom, charity, opportunity, and affection in history. If you need proof, open all the borders on Earth and see what happens. In about half a day, the entire world would be a ghost town, and the United States would look like one giant line to see "The Producers."

2)      "Violence only leads to more violence."

This one is so stupid you usually have to be the president of an Ivy League university to say it. Here's the truth, which you know in your heads and hearts already: Ineffective, unfocused violence leads to more violence. Limp, panicky, half-measures lead to more violence. However, complete, fully-thought-through, professional, well-executed violence never leads to more violence because, you see, afterwards, the other guys are all dead. That's right, dead. Not "on trial," not "reeducated," not "nurtured back into the bosom of love." Dead. D-E-well, you get the idea.

3)      "The CIA and the rest of our intelligence community has failed us."

For 25 years we have chained our spies like dogs to a stake in the ground, and now that the house has been robbed, we yell at them for not protecting us. Starting in the late seventies, under Carter appointee Stansfield Turner, the giant brains who get these giant ideas decided that the best way to gather international intelligence was to use spy satellites. "After all," they reasoned, "you can see a license plate from 200 miles away."  This is very helpful if you've been attacked by a license plate.
Unfortunately, we were attacked by humans. Finding humans is not possible with satellites. You have to use other humans. When we bought all our satellites, we fired all our humans, and here's the really stupid part. It takes years, decades to infiltrate new humans into the worst places of the world. You can't just have a guy who looks like Gary Busey in a Spring Break '93 sweatshirt plop himself down in a coffee
shop in Kabul and say "Hi ya, boys. Gee, I sure would like to meet that bin Laden fella." Well, you can, but all you'd be doing is giving the bad guys a story they'll be telling for years.

4)      "These people are poor and helpless, and that's why they're angry at us."

Uh-huh, and Jeffrey Dahmer's frozen head collection was just a desperate cry for help. The terrorists and their backers are richer than Elton John and, ironically, a good deal less annoying. The poor helpless people, you see, are the villagers they tortured and murdered to stay in power. Mohamed Atta, one of the evil scumbags who steered those planes into the killing grounds (I'm sorry, one of the "alleged hijackers,"
according to CNN. They stopped using the word "terrorist," you know), is the son of a Cairo surgeon. But you knew this, too.

5)      "Any profiling is racial profiling."

Who's killing us here, the Norwegians? Just days after the attack, the New York Times had an article saying dozens of extended members of the gazillionaire bin Laden family living in America were afraid of reprisals and left in a huff, never to return to studying at Harvard and using too much Drakkar. I'm crushed. I think we're all crushed. Please come back. With a cherry on top?  Why don't they just change their names, anyway? It's happened in the past. Think about it. How many Adolfs do you run into these days?  Shortly after that, I remember watching TV with my jaw on the floor as a government official actually said, "That little old grandmother from
Sioux City could be carrying something." Okay, how about this: No, she couldn't. It would never be the grandmother from Sioux City. Is it even possible? What are the odds? Winning a hundred Powerball lotteries in a row? A thousand? A million?
And now a Secret Service guy has been tossed off a plane, and we're all supposed to cry about it because he's an Arab? Didn't it have the tiniest bit to do with the fact that he filled out his forms incorrectly three times? And then left an Arab history book on his seat as he strolled off the plane? And came back? Armed? Let's please all stop
singing "We Are the World" for a minute and think practically.  I don't want to be sitting on the floor in the back of a plane four seconds away from hitting Mt. Rushmore and turn, grinning, to the guy next to me to say, "Well, at least we didn't offend them."

So here's what I resolve for the New Year:
Never to forget our murdered brothers and sisters.
Never to let the relativists get away with their immoral thinking.
After all, no matter what your daughter's political science professor says, we didn't start this.
Have you seen that bumper sticker that says, "No More Hiroshimas"? I wish I had one that says, "You First. No More Pearl Harbors."
Semper Fi!

The United States

Will this world's most successful Government survive?

I think not!

In the beginning the United States created a government with a constitution that would survive any thing that challenged it.  This seemed to work for 150 years.  Slowly the most important part of the Constitution was changed.  The Constitution was written to cover the use of many of the faults that brought down ALL Governments that existed before it.  There was Government by the people through elected representatives.  There was provision for separation of the three branches of government on which the constitution was built.  Should these well prepared elements of the constitution been followed there was a good chance for survival.  Unfortunately these provisions have failed.  This Government will be no longer in existence in less than fifty years.
There are three major things that have happened to bring me to this conclusion.

1.  The elected representatives have chosen to ignore the writings of the Constitutions, and the spelled out wishes of their constituents.

2. The constitution calls for a separation of the three branches of the federal government.  There is no separation of powers. The courts at every level make laws.  The legislators, and the executives do not seem to notice.  The Legislators usurp States rights without any complaint; the executive nullifies the legislators by so called executive privilege, and appointments while the Senate is not in session.

3.  All three branches are controlled by lawyers, who by their actions could not make a living as lawyers, but are well trained to ignore the constitution.

The government as now exist is all one big conflict of the constitution.  This can show its existence by one person (at the moment Tom Daschle) being able to stop all legislation that is brought before either house of the legislative body.  Well meaning men that are not trained in civil or criminal law would never let a committee refuse to bring any measure to the floor for vote.  The committee would only make recommendations to the body, not usurp their responsibilities.

CAN THIS FUTURE BE CHANGED

I do not believe it can.  I have recommendations that may be able to bring back the Government of The United States of America.  I do not think my recommendations can be put into practice.  This negative feeling comes from the fact that the elected people as lawyers do not realize that there is a conflict of interest.  I am speaking of a MAJOR conflict of interest throughout the government as it exsist at this time in the history of The United States of America

                                           RECOMMENDATIONS

No person that has ever attended law school would be eligible to be elected  to any of the offices that comprise the three branches of the United States Government.  In all cases, that would be a definite conflict of interest in serving the citizens of the United States.  The actions of the lawyers that now control all branches of the United States Government indicate that they are incapable of reading the Constitutions.  They have all sworn an oath to uphold said Constitutions.  We know they can read because all have attended law school.  This indicates that they have not even read the Constitutions of The United States of America.  The real problem more likely is found in their law school training.  The American English is not taught in law school.  Ways to misinterpret the language, and add words to the Constitutions that are in fact not there.  I feel that this is why the Courts make Laws, the House and Senate refuse to bring the laws to the floor for a vote, and the President makes appointments when congress is not in session or uses executive privilege to accomplish improper actions.  This country should be operated by the rules of law allowed by its constitution, not by trained liars, and selfish people.

EXECUTIVE BRANCH OF THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT

The Executive office of President or Vice President of the United States Government must come from a citizen of the United States of America who is a person born of citizens that were born or naturalized under proper procedures.  There will be no short cuts on any rules of citizenship.
Candidates for President being also the Commander in Chief should be chosen from persons that have never been elected to serve in either of the two other branches of the United States Government.  They must be educated in such manner as to make them very familiar with all Uniformed Services.  All offices that collect and evaluate intelligence used to protect citizens should be for his or her immediate use.  This includes The United States Military, Federal, State, and local intelligence forces involved with keeping citizens safe.  They will have in their possession a copy of the Constitutions of the United States of America issued to them by the government printing office at the time of their pledge to support the same.  All appointments must be brought from committees to a vote on the floor of both houses of congress.

Congress of the United States of America

Shall consist of citizens born or naturalized.  All elected members of both houses shall have in their possession a copy of the Constitutions of the United States of America issued to them by the government printing office at the time of their pledge to support the same.  They will be required to make laws, which after study by a committee will be voted on by each house.  All laws voted favorably will be signed by the President within a given period or will become law.  The Supreme Court will determine its constitutional validity.  Their salaries and expenses will be voted by the citizenry - not less that bi-annually.  Their retirement pay will follow the rules accorded retired military personnel, and be subject to disability deductions such as will apply to all Federal employees.

THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

Shall consist of appointees of the President and confirmed by the full Senate after being considered by a committee of Senators.  They must in all cases read before the combined houses of congress the Constitutions, and amendments loaned to them by the government printing office.  Should their appointment be approved the government printing office will issue to them the same book read in congress.  They will have lifetime appointments.  They will rule on all laws that are contested as not conforming to the Constitutions of the United States of America.  All their judgments will be based on the American English words within the book of Constitutions, and its amendments.

States of the united States of America

The States that make up the United States will have all Constitutional rights that are not specifically assigned to the Federal Government.  All States have the right to join together in any endeavor that is approved by a referendum voted by it's citizens.  All States will have representation in all elected offices of the Federal Government.  They will be represented as they are at this time, with the only exception that none can have attended law school.

RELIGION

All religions will be accepted in the United States of America, and its recognized territories.  Religious Rites practiced in any language other that American English will provide to the Federal, State, and Local authorities a translation in American English of their religious book.  Religions practicing Rites in American English shall provide a copy of their religious book to the same authorities.  All religious tracts, written educational materials of all Religions will be furnished the library of congress.  Any religious persons deviating from their books and written material based on their religious books will be considered another Religion and comply with the same requirements of all other Religious societies.

No religious materials will refer to any other Religion in a derogatory fashion.  Those who do not abide by these requirements will be considered Cults and not have the protection of the conforming Religions.

Americans

This is not a war about land in the Middle East or the structure of a Palestinian state, or a U.S. military presence in the Arabian Peninsula. It is a war about redemption. In this it exactly parallels the Communist threat from the past. In the eyes of the Communists, America stood in the way of heaven - a socialist paradise in which racism, sexism, and economic inequality would vanish from the earth. In the eyes of radical Islam, America -- the Great Satan -- stands in the way of Islam's rule, and thus of human redemption and it is for this reason America must be destroyed. Thus, the al-Qaeda proclamation: "America is the head of heresy in our modern world, and it leads an infidel democratic regime that is based upon separation of religion and state and on ruling the people by the people via legislating laws that contradict the way of Allah and permit what Allah has prohibited. This compels the other countries to act in accordance with the same laws in the same ways … and punishes any country [that rebels against these laws] by besieging it, and then by boycotting it. By so doing [America] seeks to impose on the world a religion that is not Allah's…"Americans wake up! Your enemies hate you for who you are. They hate you because you are democratic, and tolerant and unbelieving. They hate you because you are Christians: "America's standing with the Christians of the world against the Muslims has stripped the camouflage from its face." And they hate you because are Hindus and Buddhists and secularists and Jews. This war is not a war we are facing. It is a war we are in. Americans have hardly begun to understand this, but the enemy is already keeping score: "We have not reached parity [with America's alleged attacks on Muslims. [Therefore], we have the right to kill 4 million Americans - 2 million of them children - and to exile twice as many and wound and cripple hundreds of thousands. Furthermore, it is our right to fight them with chemical and biological weapons, so as to afflict them with the fatal maladies that have afflicted Muslims because of the [Americans'] chemical and biological weapons." Americans have also only begun to understand that if radical Islam is one face of our enemy, the other is the radical left. For two hundred years the radical left has believed in a religion promising a heaven on earth whose end justifies any means. That is why progressives like Lenin and Stalin and Pol Pot killed so many innocent people. That is why radical leftists in America and other European countries have joined in denouncing America's war of self-defense and in abetting the Arab crusade to obliterate Israel and (in the process) exterminate the Jews of the Middle East. How serious are some American leftists about abetting the war to destroy their own country? Attorney Lynn Stewart is a veteran of the radical left going back to the 1960s and is the lawyer for the "blind sheik" who led the first terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in 1993. Six people were killed in the attack and 1,000 injured. Stewart is associated with the Center for Constitutional Rights and has been a supporter of Communist causes and Arab terrorists for her entire professional life. Recently, the Attorney General indicted Stewart for helping the "blind sheik," who is now in prison, to communicate with his terrorist followers in the Middle East and further their bloody agendas. A chorus from the left has attacked Attorney General Ashcroft for infringing on the civil liberties of the imprisoned terrorist and his "lawyer." Stewart has been defended as a persecuted civil libertarian by the left-wing National Lawyers Guild, the ACLU, The Nation and other institutions of the "progressive" left. In 1995, Lynn Stewart was interviewed by the New York Times, which reported her radical beliefs. ""Ms. Stewart suggested that violence and revolution were sometimes necessary to right the economic and racial wrongs of America's capitalist system." Among other things, Lynn Stewart said this: "I don't believe in anarchistic violence, but in directed violence. That would be violence directed at the institutions which perpetuate capitalism, racism, and sexism, and the people who are the appointed guardians of those institutions, and accompanied by popular support." The World Trade Center is an institution which perpetuates capitalism and -- in the eyes of the left -- racism and sexism as well. According to every leftist - from the Nation magazine to the Chomsky fifth column (the distance is not great) --, America is a land of capitalism, racism and sexism, and the enforcer of capitalism, racism and sexism globally. This is the world that the Islamists call Dar Al-Harb: The world of darkness. The world that is not socialist (for the leftist believers) and that is not Islam (for the faithful). According to Lynn Stewart and the al-Qaeda spokesman, the people who dwell in Dar Al-Harb and support its profane agendas deserve to die. This is what the present "war on terror" is about. Americans better understand it sooner than later.

Main Stream Press Didn’t Report This

Armed Man Shoots Three in Manhattan! This piece really got my blood pressure up. Why couldn't they say it like it was armed BLACK man? This animal (unless you have a better name) that wanted to kill all those white people and seemed to make a pretty good stab at it, should have been killed by the cops right on the spot. Aside from the economic
reasons, the long drawn out trial, which will cost the working taxpayers a bundle, and the extensive pity party the blacks will have as they protest the behavior of the police and justice system. After all this poor(?) misunderstood, mistreated, deprived of so many of the world’s goods, this Negro, was just exercising his God given right to vent his spleen against those oppressive descendants of slave owners. The piece also alluded to the thought, what if a white man had done this heinous deed. Well the blacks would have preformed as they usually do, burn and destroy all that they can, plus indulge themselves in their time honored pastime (for times of stress, real or imagined) LOOTING! It will be very interesting to see how this incident evolves. If history of this sort of thing means anything he will be awarded a large settlement because he was treated with undo force. Remember Rodney!...... Bill Rouchell River Ridge, La.

In the words of that great American Thomas Jefferson, who said "the beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try and take it away", so it goes in the world we live in today when it comes to personal liberties. They aren't abruptly taken away but rather with the stealth of a thief in the night. This usually happens with the approbation of many good people, who have nothing but the best intentions. Then one fine day they look back in total amazement at how subtle their loss of so many personal freedoms has been with for the most part their approval. Ah! But like water passing under a bridge, gone and can never be brought back. Then we live with what we have left to
cling to. This seems to afflict those societies that expect everything to be done for them by their governments..... Bill Rouchell, River Ridge, La

Hi Deb this is a follow up to the story of the above. I wrote a letter the other day to the Jerusalem Times in reply to their asking for the support of all us Americans. In my letter, which I will send you a copy I said that I felt their pain but like many others have not forgotten their attack on the USS Liberty in 1967.The letter below is the GARBAGE the editor sent to me. I am also beginning to get letters from around the country from American Jews who it seems owe nothing to this county but all to Israel. Now my crusade takes on new life I am real PO'd.  Bill Rouchell.

Letter –

Bill,

USS Liberty was a friendly fire. It happens. We are genuinely sorry about it, just as we are sorry about two parts of the same tank unit who inflicted heavy damage upon each other because they became divided and mistook each other for the enemy the day before the liberty accident happened. Lots of good guys killed each other that day because of a tiny navigation error.  They radioed each other for help and replied that they can't assist because they are engaged in heavy fight. The same happened with the ship. A lot of people tried to find a Jewish conspiracy in this truly tragic accident. I can understand them. They sucked the idea of a better world without us, Jews, with mothers milk in their trailer parks but they all overlooked one simple point that proves that all the USS Liberty conspiracy theory is a load of baloney. And here it is:

IAF is the best air force ever, hope no question about that. The unaccomplished mission for them never was an option. So would they have an order to destroy the ship, they would sink it even if it would take crashing their aircrafts into it. Yet the ship stayed afloat and made it back in one piece. The only explanation for this is that the attack was called off the moment they realized the ship is not a bogey.

Again, I am sorry that our army caused deaths of our friends. But as the war on terror shows, 30 years since the liberty accident, with all the GPS satellite guidance systems and computers, soldiers are still getting killed by friendly fire and it will take much more than smart bombs to prevent similar tragedies from happening.

Regarding Pollard the Spy, answer me honestly, what is a bigger crime - to spy on ally or to deny an ally the information vital to its very survival? Claims that Pollard also sold the information to Russians is ridiculous because the information was ABOUT Russian participation in weapon programs - why would they want to buy any intel info ABOUT THEMSELVES??? Pollard only passed us the information that Israel was supposed to get anyway from US intel but was denied "...so that Jews won't be too jumpy" as somebody "in high places" put it. He was not punished for passing to Israel the information about nuclear and chemical weapons development in Iran and Iraq, he was punished for exposing the US administration as liars. They could not forgive him that. Don't you agree that Bush's "axis of evil" speech vindicated Pollard completely? By the way using the Pollard's intelligence, Israelis knocked down the Iraqi nuclear reactor and it saved lots of lives of US servicemen during the "Desert Storm" because otherwise Saddam would have a nuke by then. Don't you think Pollard deserves thanks from US at least for that?

Response to "Fiddling" While The West Burns – Sierra Times

Hi Debbie,

The government policies are as phony as the "hole in the ozone". Most people don't even know what ozone is, yet they parrot the governments version. Think hard, when has government ever told the people the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about anything?? I am a firefighter and lived lived in Alpine county near South Lake Tahoe. I was member of the Markleeville Volunteer Fire Dept.  I fought in 2 of the 4 large fires in 4 years. One was a campfire. There were witnesses who saw a Forestry service helicopter hover over campfire and fan it until it spread. Fuel loading (dead and down trees, slash and underbrush) are the cause of large fires.

I am sure that you know that the constitution only allows the federal government to own a 10 mile square and land for post roads military bases shipyards , and that any land must ceded to it by the States. After the Revolutionary war the 13 states placed all land to the west in trust to the federal government  to form new states. All so-called government land that was not ceded to the federal government rightfully belongs to the states. It should be turned over to the states and sold or homesteaded out to private parties.

    I like reading your column.

Vern

Thank you for your thoughtful comments.  I intend to post them on my own website feedback page.  Bless you for the service you have provided fighting those terrible fires!

(And, of course I invited him to check us out here.)

Deborah,

Yes, the problem is environmentalist (commies).

No, everybody cannot be allowed to come here (Mogollon Rim) and build a campfire.  Apparently you are not aware of, or cannot conceive of, just how dry it is here this year.  Plants are dying for the first time ever.  A spark from a wheel with a flat tire kindles a fire instantly.

And, apparently you are equally uninformed of the incredible idiocy of large numbers of people who arrive here from the valley.  Some of them must wander here by accident because they could not have found it by intellect or orientation skills.  Allowing them to play with matches is suicide under these current conditions.

I cannot hike my neighborhood, and I miss it terribly.  But, right now we feel somewhat like those in Israel must:  we know its coming, we just don't know how or when. And it is ugly when it comes.

Payson Jim

Jim,

Thank you very much for your feedback.  I am very familiar with the Rim country and I do realize how dry it is this year.  As I said, I have family and friends in Arizona and I also own property there.  I also fully understand where you are coming from with your assessment of the idiocy that invades that beautiful country from the Valley.  With all that said, however, it does no good to police those "protected" areas assuming that the only way to stop the "criminally ignorant" would-be fire starters is to assume that everyone is criminally ignorant!  That is the same mindset that has been used in other arguments, such as gun control legislation and regulation.  You, as an individual, have every right to keep trespassers off your property or prevent campfires there, or any other use restrictions you choose to impose.  But to have government regulations on "public"  or government owned property to that extent is asinine.  The last I heard, arson is illegal, as well it should be.  People who carelessly or deliberately set forest fires should and can be punished without the aforementioned regulations.  Forestry personnel could be better utilized using their supposed skills in forestry to make recommendations about logging and clear cutting areas for the preservation of the forests, and to police only the guilty who go there to commit crimes - not harass the innocents who would be assets to the cause of preservation.  Thanks again for your response, and my best wishes that your home stay safe.  Regards, Deb

THE WEATHERED OLD BARN
A stranger came by the other day with an offer that set me to thinking.  He wanted to buy the old barn that sits out by the highway. I told him right off he was crazy. He was a city type, you could tell by his clothes,  his car, his hands, and the way he talked. He said he was driving by and saw that beautiful barn sitting out in the tall grass and wanted to know if it was for sale. I told him he had a funny idea of beauty.
Sure, it was a handsome building in its day. But then, there's been a lot of winters pass with their snow and ice and howling wind. The summer sun's beat down on that old barn till all the paint's gone, and the wood has turned silver gray. Now the old building leans a good deal, looking kind of tired. Yet, that fellow called it beautiful.
That set me to thinking. I walked out to the field and just stood there,  gazing at that old barn. The stranger said he planned to use the lumber to line the walls of his den in a new country home he's building down the road. He said you couldn't get paint that beautiful. Only years of standing in the weather, bearing the storms and scorching sun, only that can produce beautiful barn wood.
It come to me then. We're a lot like that, you and I. Only it's on the inside that the beauty grows with us. Sure we turn silver gray too. . . and lean a bit more than we did when we were young and full of sap. But the
Good Lord knows what He's doing. And as the years pass He's busy using the hard weather of our lives, the dry spells and the stormy seasons, to do a job of beautifying in our souls that nothing else can produce. And to think how often folks holler because they want life easy!
They took the old barn down today and hauled it away to beautify a rich
man's house. And I reckon someday you and I'll be hauled off to Heaven to take on whatever chores the Good Lord has for us on the Great Sky Ranch.  And I suspect we'll be more beautiful then for the seasons we've been through here. . . and maybe even add a bit of beauty to our Father's house.

FYI, A little update from the good folks at Simonforgovernor.com

Simon Proposes Major Reforms to State Veterans' Services

Slams Davis for Failure to Live Up to Promises to Veterans

BAKERSFIELD - Gubernatorial candidate Bill Simon today addressed the 84th
annual American Legion Department Convention where he outlined his plans to
reform state services for California's veterans, which have eroded under the
Davis administration.

Simon, who through his family foundation has donated millions over the
years to American military related causes, said he would carry the same
commitment to California's veterans into the governor's office.

"I offer you this simple pledge: If I am elected governor, the days when
California's veterans are treated like second-class citizens will come to an
end," Simon said.  "When we send men overseas to fight in defense of our
country, our freedom and our prosperity, we make a promise to them.  We
promise them that when they return from the battlefield, our country will
take care of them as they have taken care of our country.

"Four years ago, Gray Davis promised us 'the most veterans-friendly
administration of the 20th century.'  Since then there have been plenty of
photo opportunities, but precious little action," Simon said.  "Our veterans
deserve more than symbolism, they deserve results."

In his speech Simon cited several examples of veterans-related failures by
the Davis administration.

· At a Barstow veterans' home, conditions were so appalling, failing
inspection after inspection due to substandard care, that three patients
died in avoidable circumstances.

· The Cal-Vet loan program has been neglected and mismanaged, with at
least two independent audits over the last two years uncovering poor budget
controls and bad management.  As a result of this mismanagement, veterans
with Cal-Vet mortgages have had their insurance benefits cut, putting their
homes at risk.

· The governor has provided no leadership to solve these problems.  Three
of the governor's suggested appointees to run the department were considered
so ill equipped that even a Legislature of his own party wouldn't confirm
them.

In his speech, Simon unveiled his proposed reforms and improvements for
services and support for California's veterans, including:

· A complete reorganization of the state's Department of Veterans'
Affairs, including creating a chain of command based on the needs of
veterans in the 21st century and the programs that service those needs.

· An end to the rampant mismanagement of the Cal-Vet loan program and an
expansion and improvement in benefits.  This includes halting the diversion
of Cal-Vet funds to other non-veteran uses and a guarantee that no
California veteran will lose their home because of the failures of the
Cal-Vet system.

· An expansion of health services for veterans - including building more
veterans homes across California, cleaning up those with substandard
performance records and seeking healthcare solutions more responsive to the
needs of today's veterans.

Simon also said that as governor he would bolster the state's contribution
to a strong military and the war on terrorism by revitalizing incentives for
enlistment, including expanding waivers of college and university fees for
the dependents of enlistees.

Simon said he will meet regularly with rank-and-file members of the
American Legion and other veterans' organizations to anticipate future needs
veterans will face and map out pro-active and preventative solutions.  Simon
cited the growing number of women veterans as a new issue that must be
addressed.

"I believe it is about time that California had a strategy to support
California women who have served their country in uniform," Simon said.

"All of my proposals are based on the principle that the men and women who
have served our country didn't put their lives on the line to defend
bureaucratic incompetence, indifferent service or inferior care," Simon
said.  "They served and sacrificed for freedom, democracy and the American
way of life."

In the words of that great American Thomas Jefferson who said "the beauty of the Second Amendment is that it will not be needed until they try and take it away." So it goes in the world we live in today when it comes to personal liberties. They aren't abruptly taken away but rather with the stealth of a thief in the night. This usually happens with the approbation of many good people, who have nothing but the best
intentions. Then one fine day they look back in total amazement at how subtle their loss of so many personal freedoms has been with for the most part their approval .Ah! But like water passing under a bridge, gone and can never be brought back. Then we live with what we have left to cling to. This seems to afflict those societies that expect everything to be done for them by their governments. From Heather – Are you a history buff, or an X-Files fan?

I will not attest to the validity of these facts, I just pass them along.....
History Lesson - Look what happens when a President gets elected in a year with a "0" at the end.  Also notice it goes in increments of 20 years.

1840: William Henry Harrison (died in office)
1860: Abraham Lincoln (assassinated)
1880: James A. Garfield (assassinated)
1900: William McKinley (assassinated)
1920: Warren G. Harding (died in office)
1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt (dies in office)
1960: John F. Kennedy (assassinated)
1980: Ronald Reagan (survived assassination attempt)
2000: George W. Bush????????????
And to think that we had two guys fighting it out in the courts to be the one elected in 2000.

You might also be interested in this.  Have a history teacher explain this----- if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost their children while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.
Now it gets really weird.
Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.
Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named 'Ford'.
Kennedy was shot in a car called 'Lincoln' made by 'Ford'.
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
And here's the kicker.......
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.

What's a Military Family Worth?
by Rush Limbaugh, March 11, 2002

I think the vast differences in compensation between the victims of the September 11th casualty, and those who die serving the country in uniform, are profound.

No one is really talking about it either because you just don't criticize anything having to do with September 11th.

Well, I just can't let the numbers pass by because it says something really disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country.

If you lost a family member in the September 11th attack, you're going to get an average of $1,185,000.   The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000, all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs.

If you are the surviving spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry.

And there's a payment of $211 per month for each child under 18.  When the child hits 18, those payments come to a screeching halt.

Keep in mind that some of the people that are getting an average of $1.185 million up to $4.7 million are complaining that it's not enough.

We also learned over the weekend that some of the victims from the Oklahoma City bombing have started an organization asking for the same deal that the September 11th families are getting.

In addition to that, some of the families of those bombed in the embassies are now asking for compensation as well.

You see where this is going, don't you?

Folks, this is part and parcel of over fifty years of entitlement politics in this country.

It's just really sad.

"Patriotism is not a short and frenzied outburst of emotion but the tranquil and steady dedication of a lifetime."-Adlai E. Stevenson, Jr.

Every time when a pay raise comes up for the military they usually receive next to nothing of a raise.

Now the green machine is in combat in the Middle East while their families have to survive on food stamps and live in low rent housing.

However our own U.S. Congress just voted themselves a raise, and many of you don't know that they only have to be in Congress one time to receive a pension that is more than $15,000 per month and most are now equal to be millionaires plus.

They also do not receive Social Security on retirement because they didn't have to pay into the system.

If some of the military people stay in for 20 years and get out as an E-7 you may receive a pension of $1,000 per month, and the very people who placed you in harm’s way receive a pension of $15,000 per month.

I would like to see our elected officials pick up a weapon and join ranks before they start cutting out benefits and lowering pay for our sons and daughters who are now fighting.

Thanks, Cheryl, for finding this and sending it.

And thanks to Rush Limbaugh for shining the light once more!

Here is what Bill thinks of it – He saw an article in the Charlotte Times and wrote to the editor.  He also decided to share it with us:

I have just read the piece in your June 13th edition about the above bill in the Senate (introduced by Miller and Liberman) to spend $755 million of the taxpayers money to fix up 103 supposedly historic black colleges in 22 states. Putting my opinion of Zell Miller and Joe Liberman aside I am prompted to ask, how do these two paragons of knowledge arrive at this number of black institutions? They say that the buildings on these campuses are national treasures - by what criteria are they arriving at that sage decision? It surely can't be based on the educational prowess of the students that are turned out of these
hallowed halls of learning. I suspect that in this election year and with the liberal Democrats scrambling for any votes they can get, this is a well thought out and subtle form of pandering to that great and thoughtful black constituency, that they need to stay entrenched at the public trough. I would also like to point out to those, who haven't the
time or energy to look into this, that when they say the Federal government is to pick up 70% of the tab for this rather nebulas endeavor. They mean that they are once again spending taxpayer money. I may not be a master of erudition, but do believe all federal money is first derived from we the people. Am I wrong? I am also curious about that 30% the schools are to come up with, before they can receive or qualify for federal government money, (taxpayer) and of course this legislation allows for waivers (back door out so as not to come up with the money) in case the schools find it difficult or resist paying their share. I'm sure that we all are glad that the white colleges aren't having the same problems. America is wonderful isn't it?..... Bill Rouchell - River Ridge, La.

Scientific American Magazine had an article that we have a potential decrease in Ph.D.'s in science and engineering fields so Hatch instead of aiding American's who have lived in this country get student aid wants to keep people who overstay visas here!  We have too many foreigners in our schools that have no place for our people.  Get rid of foreigners and lots of white, black, Hispanic etc. American citizens wouldn't have to fight over a few seats in classrooms.

A PLAN FOR THE BORDER

YOUR THOUGHTS
We are launching a major new project dealing with the border.

As an insider with knowledge of the issue, I am asking for your opinions and suggestions regarding this project.  Please send any comments to
mailto:glenn@americanpatrol.com

AMERICAN BORDER PATROL A NEW INIATIVE FOR HOMELAND SECURITY

A NATION WITHOUT A BORDER IS NOT A NATION
President Reagan said, "A nation without a border is not a nation." Should America continue as an independent, sovereign nation? Every poll answers with a resounding
YES! Americans want their border protected and, if necessary, they want the military to help. President Eisenhower stopped illegal immigration by enforcing our laws. President Bush could do the same thing.

WHY CAN¹T WE STOP THE INVASION?
We are the most powerful nation on earth. Yet, we have been unable to stop millions of illegal aliens from crossing our borders. Why? Do we have enough Border Patrol Agents? If not, how many do we need? Don’t we have the technology to detect people coming into the United States across barren land? If we do, why don’t we use it? Should we build a fence like the Israelis are doing? How can they do it so fast?

AMERICAN BORDER PATROL TO THE RESCUE
I have joined with Former Chief U.S. Border Patrol Agent Bill King and former Chief of the Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol, Ron Sanders, to form American Border Patrol. American Border Patrol will report from the border on a full-time basis. American Border Patrol (ABP) is an Arizona corporation. We have filed for IRS 501 c (3), tax-exempt, non-profit status.

ABP HEADQUARTERS
ABP will be headquartered on a ranch on the Mexican border in southern Arizona
(location restricted to insiders only). The ranch will house our information center, satellite Internet system, radio transmitters and receivers and the Web operations and production center. I am moving to the ranch to run operations, full-time. Once we are up and running, we will welcome selected, screened visitors to see, first-hand, the battle for America’s borders.

"LIGHT UP THE BORDER"
In the 1980s, Muriel Watson and other brave Americans lined up automobiles south of San Diego and used their headlights to "light up the border." They showed hundreds of illegal aliens running across open fields into the United States. The media was forced to pay attention. No illegal aliens now cross where Muriel Watson¹s automobiles were lined
up. A twelve-mile-wide border barrier system stops them, placed there by a shamed government.

"LIGHTING UP THE BORDER" AGAIN
It is time to "light up the border" again. It is time to show the American people that our nation is being invaded. This time, instead of headlights, we will use the Internet. Just as we do with americanpatrol.com (the most popular immigration reform Web site), we will show illegals flooding into the United States, first-hand, and, if possible, live. We will show what the Border Patrol is doing to stop this invasion, and why they fail. We will show what America could do to stop the invasion.

WORKING WITH RANCHERS
As has American Patrol for years, ABP will work with ranchers, such as Roger Barnett of Douglas, Arizona (featured in Time Magazine), to focus on how, when and where illegal aliens are crossing our border. We will use video cameras and infrared technology to show, on a regular basis, how illegal aliens are violating our sovereignty. (What would Americans think of a Webcam mounted on popular invasion routes? How many would log on to try to catch aliens invading their nation? Plenty.)

BORDER PATROL TACTICS
Under the direction of Bill King, Ron Sanders, and other former Border Patrol officials, we will explain to the American people, on a blow-by-blow basis, how the battle for our borders is going. We will tell them why illegal aliens are dying in the desert and what we can do to stop it. We will tell them why illegal aliens continue to cross the border, even after they have been arrested up to fifteen times. We will tell the American people how terrorists can cross our borders undetected and undeterred. And, if they want to get personally involved, we will show Americans how to do it.

SUPPORTING THE BORDER PATROL
ABP will support the Border Patrol. Our network of concerned citizens along the border will represent an important source of reports, processed through ABP for confirmation.  We will be in constant contact with agents working the line and they will know how much America is behind them.

NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT
For many reasons, some of which cannot be made public now, I can think of no more
important task than immediately securing our borders.

We are working to launch American Border Patrol on September 1. With your help, we
can do it.

Glenn Spencer

P.S. Until ABP receives approval of its non-profit status, American Patrol will handle its banking. We may be able to give donors tax credits at a later date, but nothing is guaranteed.
G.S.

I read with a great deal of approval Leonard’s letter. Though it might be preaching to the choir, in the circle that appears here in this site, one that pursues the truth with wild abandon. Leonard you are sooooo right and your point is well made. I might add however there is a very old saying "if you throw enough against the wall some will stick". This is why my friend Amo Veritas and I write so many letters. Small percentage that it might be, some might be reached and perhaps change their way of thinkng. God willing! Oh! Well said, Deb.  My Grandparents (circa early 1900's) and parents would frequently postulate how a little "common sense" goes a long ways.  I wonder what today's "social engineers" {multiculturalism) were taught, and by whom.  Do they have family?  If  so, from where? (Probably sneaked across the border, which, perhaps, further explains the furtive behaviors of these cowards.)

Hello
I have been reading some of your articles. It started on the Sierra Times page. You have a very powerful "kick in the stomach"  style that's different from most. I really like it. Glad you're out there.

Bruce

I LOVE IT.  I don't mean it in an entertaining way, but it's such a good feeling to know there's someone who's not afraid to go toe-to-toe with the folks (obviously non-Christian) who would sell us out for their own gain.  Not only that, but your reasoning and ability to see through the garbage sets you far above so many who would be "BOSS" if only we'd play by their rules.  Of course, you are preaching to the choir, mostly, but at least by being vocal, you sure know who you can trust.  Bet it's a short list, though.  My prayers are with you that you remain strong in the face of the critics / enemies, and that in the end, we may not win, but by golly we will have made our presence known.

Sincerely,

Larry P.

Here, again, another well-constructed message that anybody able to conceive only half of a original thought will unmistakably understand. Sexual reality is factually established, learned and normal, or it is factually corrupted, learned and abnormal. The latter most characterizes those who have coined the term "homophobe".

Yes, Venable, I concur.

Thanks to all for the feedback!

Sen. Tom Daschle, the quintessential example of one suffering from megalomania, is to busy stroking his own ego, to even notice that Americas security is being threatened, not that he gives a tinker’s damn. He wants and is succeeding for the most part, in blocking anything and everything that emanates from the Bush white house, and the public good does not matter. He is of course aided an abetted by such paragons of public service as Ted Kennedy (he is now pushing to equate gay marriges, with the time honored and accepted man woman arrangement) and Charles Schumer (of no one should own a gun fame). I am not surprised at the Senate Democrats' failure to lead, never forget their strong suit is divide the country and then reap the votes! Who better to orchestrate this than Daschel that maven of chicanery. The folks of his state who keep sending him back to the senate will never be accused of being erudite! Why can't enough pressure be brought to bear so that critical legislation held up by him and his obstructionist cabal can be passed?  Daschel does not have the country’s interest at heart - only his own.                                                                   Mad as hell. Bill Rouchell - River Ridge, La.

Couldn’t have said it better!

This is really about those in our country afflicted with that horrible disease called the hand in the inverted position. Some refer to it as the metallic disease, that's where the iron in their blood has turned to lead in their derrières. Producers beware they are all around you praying and hopeful that you never stop, because without your contributions they can't make it, or won't! We seem to be divided between those who would govern themselves and be responsible citizens, taking care of themselves and those who rely on the government.(little thought being given to the fact that government largess is based on what they the government takes from US).There is no longer the pride connected with doing for yourself, when you rely on the handouts from your fellow citizens(note I didn't say government). In the days of our founding it is said "that if you didn't work and contribute you fell by the wayside". Will our beloved America ever again return to that state? I sure hope there are some out there who agree with these thoughts!

With this influence/control they set agendas, policies, people, resources, what information is allowed to be presented or not presented, etc.

A goal of their agendas is to destroy the Bible.

Where is our government? At any given moment there are thousands of criminal illegal mostly Mexican citizens who are terrorizing American citizens in the counties along the Texas, Ariz. Calif. and New Mexico borders. These dregs of Mexican society have been guilty every year of every sort of crime against our people, who's property rights they have no respect for at all. This rabble which is known to be drug smugglers, bandits, and terrorists, have no fear of crossing into our country, because of either the complete lack of interest on our part to do anything to curb this, or our fear of offending the Mexican Government. The rural property owners have every right to question why has our government has allowed their victimization at the hands of these criminals. Where are the federal troops? Oh! We must remember they are deployed all over the globe protecting the citizens in foreign lands. That really makes sense doesn't it? Just an afterthought - don't take your gun in hand and shoot any of the scum, your police will arrest you and put you in jail....... Amo Veritas

What a typical response from those of questionable character or lack thereof. They are so afraid of others receiving the truth, but lack the courage of their own convictions to come out in the open with a rebuttal. Is it because they already know what they spew are lies and deceptions???  Like any cockroach they run for cover when a light is shone on them or their work. Sorry cockroaches I think I just insulted you!

CNN DOES IT AGAIN!

By the time you receive today's newsletter, you will already know about
the latest bus bombing. What you may NOT know is how CNN's Sheila
MacVicar reported it. (you were probably fast asleep) With the bus'
metal frame still smoldering, MacVicar took to the air and tried to
portray passengers using public transportation as radicals. The
beginning of the bus route, Gilo, she told the world, is what "the
Palestinians call an illegal settlement."

Actually, Gilo is a neighborhood in Jerusalem proper, not a
"settlement." Much of it was purchased before Israel's founding in 1948.
And even if that were not so, why report this minutes after an
overcrowded bus of teens  -- some as young as 12! -- lost their lives?
To "explain" (read: excuse) it?

Am I nitpicking? No, I am not. It is this sort of subtle "reporting"
that prevents the world from putting an end to these almost daily
tragedies. You see, the teens deserved to die because they dared defy
"Palestinian" delusions.  To be blunt, this makes me ill!

From Helen- A link to a registered members only site story, (New York Times) about the despicable way child abusers, (teachers) in schools are shifted out of districts just to get rid of them when they get found out, sometimes even with letters of recommendation.  No wonder some research suggests that 15% of students in schools now have been or will be abused in school.  Private schools are no guarantees of safety against this.  (Just ask the Catholics!)

A most informative piece in the ST this AM on Mr. Fox and his trucks.  With all due respect to Mr. Fox, when did he get the right to threaten us?  He might ban Mexican trucks from crossing into the US (God works in mysterious ways to protect us from ourselves) - I have seen a lot of their trucking equipment and the thought of some of those clunkers without insurance for the most part, with drivers that don't speak our language or read our signs, is tantamount highway mayhem.  I won't even bring up the
smuggled drugs and illegals.  However it will only be we American citizens who will suffer.  Who gives a damn?......Bill Rouchell - River Ridge, La.

And from a mysterious movie reviewer with no name, but an opinion all the same -

Hi Deb:

I'm new to your pages via Sierra Times.  Here is my review of the new Dreamworks kid flick, "Spirit:  Stallion of the Cimarron"

I took my 10-year-old to see that new Dreamworks movie "Spirit" about the wild horse.  The animation was good, but I didn't like the message.

The story was set during the time the Transcontinental Railroad was being built across the Old West.  Spirit is a wild horse who gets captured by white settlers (bad guys) and sold to the Army.  Spirit is approached by the Post commander, who Spirit likens to a "snake".  The post commander tries to break Spirit's sprit by not giving him food and

water for 3 days.  Spirit escapes through the efforts of a friendly Native American (good).  Spirit is taken back to the Indian camp and watches as the Army attacks and kills women and children.  (Remember, Army=white="bad").  Spirit is captured again and this time is hitched up to the locomotive the bad men are trying to build through the mountains.  Spirit sees that all of the horses are helping to pull this thing across the mountains, which is really helping to destroy his "wild and free homeland" (direct quote).  So Spirit sabotages the railroad, causing it to slip and crash and blow up.  (How many "bad" men get killed in this we don't see because their deaths are justified, I guess.)

Spirit escapes again and finds his Indian friend and together, they are chased by the Commander and his men.  They run to the top of a mesa and have only one way out - to jump across a dangerous gorge.  Spirit and his friend make the jump and look back at the mesa, where the Commander is with his soldiers.  One soldier takes aim with his rifle, but the Commander stops him.  The Commander lets them go.  Spirit is reunited with his Mother and herd and there's a happy ending.

I think the Commander letting them go is somehow supposed to make us feel that not "all white men are bad", but since it comes at the very end of the movie, it didn't make up for the unfair characterization during the previous 90 minutes.  I cannot believe that anyone -

especially during a time when good horses were prized – would deliberately starve an animal and harm it in order to "break" it.

Plus, to characterize whites as this evil is also an outrage and completely inaccurate.  (The Robert Redford movie "The Horse Whisperer "comes to mind, where a white man helps tame difficult horses through kindness.)

I have no doubt white settlers and the Army did bad things in the Old West to Indians.  Equally, I have no doubt that Indians did bad things to White settlers and each other.  The outcome of the Indian wars was a foregone conclusion, because whites had superior technology.  If it had been the other way around, things would have been different.  I have much more respect for the Indians because they have not behaved as a nation under enemy occupation.  Their spirituality perhaps, keeps them from harming others.  And although many live on a reservation (an unfair system at best), they work now to educate their fellow citizens and preserve their cultural heritage without denigrating anybody else's.

Just thought you should know.

Thank-you!  I agree!

How long are we going to continue to act like a third world eunuch, unable to protect what is ours? Why is it seemingly so easy for thousands of illegals to get into our country on foot by truck or whatever means they can come up with? Why is it that we a sovereign
nation (?) must consider spending taxpayer money to put water in the desert for the safety of those attempting to cross our border and break OUR laws?  I realize that the answers for these questions may be hard for the liberal do gooders in our society but not for me, a taxpaying citizen.  Stop them, stop them, stop them - we owe these gonna be criminals (that is what they become when they get into the country illegally) nothing except to make sure they don't get in. I also wish to add that when they are caught and they need medical attention drop them off at the nearest Mexican facility so we don't have to assume that burden.  We must realize that in the grand scheme of things if they can get a pregnant woman into one of our hospitals and she delivers we now have a new citizen (thanks to our archaic laws) that we now owe aid and assistance to. If this makes me sound or appear hard and uncaring keep in mind I only suggest this attitude in connection with those trying to beat the game.  There are good people waiting their time in line to come into the land of milk and honey legally.  I for one have no objection if the quotas permit it.

From Bill – Little late for Father’s Day, but that’s my fault – Thanks Bill!

WHEN GOD CREATED FATHERS
By Erma Bombeck

When the good Lord was creating fathers, He started with a tall frame. And a female angel nearby said, "What kind of father is that? If you're going to make children so close
to the ground, why have you put fathers up so high? He won't be able to shoot marbles without kneeling, tuck a child in bed without bending, or even kiss a child without a lot of stooping."

And God smiled and said, "Yes, but if I make him child size, who would children have to look up to?"

And when God made a father's hands, they were large and sinewy.  And the angel shook her head sadly and said, "Do You know what You're doing? Large hands are clumsy. They can't manage diaper pins, small buttons, rubber bands on pony tails or even remove splinters caused by baseball bats."

God smiled and said, "I know, but they're large enough to hold everything a small boy empties from his pockets at the end of a day, yet small enough to cup a child's face."

Then God molded long, slim legs and broad shoulders.  The angel nearly had a heart attack. "Boy, this is the end of the week, all right," she clucked. "Do You realize You just
made a father without a lap? How is he going to pull a child close to him without the kid falling between his legs?"

God smiled and said, "A mother needs a lap. A father needs strong shoulders to pull a sled, balance a boy on a bicycle or hold a sleepy head on the way home from the circus."

God was in the middle of creating two of the largest feet anyone had ever seen when the angel could contain herself no longer. "That's not fair. Do You honestly think those large
boats are going to dig out of bed early in the morning when the baby cries? Or walk through a small birthday party without crushing at least three of the guests?"

And God smiled and said, "They'll work. You'll see. They'll support a small child who wants to "ride a horse to Banbury Cross" or scare off mice at the summer cabin, or display shoes that will be a challenge to fill."

God worked throughout the night, giving the father few words, but a firm authoritative voice; eyes that see everything, but remain calm and tolerant.  Finally, almost as an afterthought, He added tears. Then He turned to the angel and said, "Now are you satisfied that he can love as much as a mother?"

And the angel shutteth up!

We’ve got a bunch of good stuff today!  This little information network we have here is growing by leaps and bounds.  I want to thank all contributors for your efforts and invite everyone to settle in with a cup of coffee or glass of wine, (depending on the time of day of course), and prepare to be enlightened, enraged, and entertained!

We’ll get the tedious stuff out of the way first – you know, the part where your (ahem) humble (and modest) web hostess basks in your kind responses to an article, (they don’t call them “rants” there) I recently banged out for Sierra Times, namely, “There Is NO Constitutionally Sanctioned Gun Control”.  Thanks for the feedback!

The solution is simple.  If every gun owner in the US registered to vote and in 2004 cast his or her vote for a _real_ pro-gun candidate like L. Neil Smith, every politicians in Washington would be falling all over himself to restore as many gun rights as he could before he came up for re-election.  There are 80 million gun owners out there. That is almost as many people as voted in the last presidential election!  Gun owners have the political power to win this battle.

Unfortunately, most gun owners will continue to follow their Republican shepherds, hoping against history that this time it will be different. This time the Republicans will keep their promises.  This time they really will repeal those unconstitutional gun laws.  This time the Republicans won't stick it to us despite the records of Richard "Guns are an abomination" Nixon, George "Assault Weapons Ban" Bush, and Ronald "I support the Brady Bill" Reagan.  It would be laughable if they weren't trying to drag me into the slaughterhouse too.  I am beginning to wonder if the greatest enemies of freedom are
the thugs in Washington or the pathetic losers who have the numbers but can't find the spine to send those thugs packing.

If you publish this, be ready for a bunch of letters whining that, if we don't support the Republicans, it will be a Democrat that takes away our guns.

Stephen

Hi Deborah,

I'm an occasional visitor to the Sierra Times web page and have read your earlier comments on the Second Amendment et al.  I concur with your sentiments except for one facet.  That is to say, to borrow from Claire's "101 Things to do Till the Revolution", it's too late to work within the system (because its broke).

You mention the Constitution, that really should be enough.  Qualifiers are not needed nor are over 400 volumes of legal opinion.  The Declaration, Constitution and Bill of Rights stand on their own merit.  But we continue to "remonstrate" without affect.  Sound
familiar?

The government has already been overthrown.  Those of us who are alert enough to perceive the tyranny simply want restoration of the Constitution.  Easily said.  Here's the bad news.  There is no historical example of an enslaved people regaining their lost freedoms without force of arms.

Regarding the government's sales job on getting the clueless to exchange freedom for security I am reminded of Patrick Henry.  As I am sure you know, he did not say, "Give me *security* or give me death".

Best regards,
Brian A. C.
Lt Col, Armor, USAR (Ret)

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comments, Brian.  You are right.  We are in virgin territory trying to get back lost rights that we should have never lost in the first place.  Government is broke - but only because it does not resemble our true government as it should be.  We, who should be the puppet masters have become merely the audience, and we keep paying the ridiculous admission price at that!  However, what would happen if someone suddenly yelled, "fire" in the crowd?  I am sure the puppet masters would have their emergency exits all clear, but the fate of the people would not
be pretty.  The only thing that has a prayer of working is to quietly spread the word to "evacuate" before the "fire" overtakes us, then regroup to put out the fire so to speak.  Then we must burn down the admissions booth and see how the puppet masters can survive without funding.

I know this is all very idealistic and full of symbolism, but you get my drift.

Ms. Venable,

Nice article.  Your statement in the second paragraph regarding no Federal power on gun control brought to mind a bit of exchanges that I had with Senator Feinstein in 2001.

This is what I consider a crucial passage from one of Sen. Feinstein's emails: "I have always taken seriously the guarantees of the Bill of Rights, and I realize that opponents of gun control believe that the Second Amendment to the Constitution guarantees a broad, individual right to keep and bear arms.  However, there is nothing in the Second Amendment that prohibits prudent, common-sense regulation of firearms."

Needless to say, those statements underscore the Senator's lack of understanding of the US Constitution and its limiting scope.  I next challenged her understanding of the Constitution and her ability to take her oath without a proper understanding.  Have only received form letter responses since then.

Dan S.

Southern California

Thank you very much for your comments, Dan.  The Senator's ignorance and words do not surprise me.  I have lived in California for the past 12 years.

Deb,

I like your style of writing and agree mostly what you have to say. Gun Rights are very important issue in this country. I put a lot of stock on the 2nd Amendment and much importance in the other nine. You might have already gathered that I recognize every part of the Constitution and only the first Ten Amendments of our Bill of Rights. There is an exception where one needs to use the other amendments in making a point or use in a court of law to make that point in a suit.

I am like you; the Second Amendment says what it says. How anyone can make something different than what is says; unless it comes out someone like Bill Clinton. Also, the Second Amendment does not say anything about what kind of arms can bear. It is your option, baseball bat to 6” cannon or whether it is full automatic or not. The founding Fathers created the 2nd Amendment mainly to protect the people from a tyrannical government and to protect yourself and one’s property. Everyone ought to own a gun even if they don’t like guns.

Yes, the tactics do need to be changed, better yet a need to realize what the issue is all about. Research shows something like we are involved in two (2) governments. Example: Government A, a incorporated Constitution with the First Ten Amendments of Bill of Rights or Government B, a unincorporated Socialist government with all the 26 Amendments to the Constitution with only relative rights instead of natural absolute rights. Deb this is so important to understand and know the difference in these two issues. The right issue is what can turn around this nation a get us back to Republican Form of Government by the people. In order for this to take place people will have to really wake up and smell the roses. If people knew the Constitution like a lot of people know every player on the different baseball teams and including all the players stats we would have a lot of our problems resolved.

A comment about the elites controlling us by holding our purse strings and for us to reestablish a monetary system, this is entirely up to you! If people are in the debt/credit system of credit cards and writing checks (creating your own money) then you are subject to the unincorporated side of the banking system. We can reestablish a new monetary system by not using credit cards and writing checks. Get out a Federal Reserve Note and take a look at two seals. The one on the left is black and is the seal of the Federal Reserve System. The one on the right is green and the seal of the U.S. Treasury. It you operate in the debt/credit of the Federal Reserve you are subject to all the rules and regulating before you. How do you pay your bills? With Federal Reserve Notes, Postal Money Orders, bank money orders, certified checks, etc. That way you are not creating money. You can have a non-interest bearing checking account. Make reservations at Hotels with Debit Card and when it is time to pay for the room, choose to pay in cash. I have been doing this for years. Remember, Deb I am a student of our Law. A teacher of Common Law is the man behind the website Golden Eagle Eye. Should you ever want to know more in depth information, Lee would be a good man to visit with. Really in order to save this country we got to get back to Common Law and absolute Constitutional Law.

Sincerely,

Lewie

I like your article and agree with everything except the line about the NRA being on our side. They are not, they have endorsed every major piece of gun control passed, starting with 1934, and including Brady, the 68 act, and instant registration. I am a member, endowment, and they will not even respond to numerous letters opposing the corporate policy.

It would be useful to expose what they really do while slapping us on the back. The articles below list details, names, places, and dates.
Sincerely, Ron.

Ron,
Thank you very much for your feedback - and you are right about the NRA.  However, I only said that they were probably our most valuable tool – not that they are on our side.  I say that because they have commanded a certain limelight to keep the issue in the arena, which forces the politicians to at least address it.  Otherwise, it would be swept under the rug and confiscation would be escalated.

AMEN! Deb your SUPERB piece has really struck home. Why is it that those gun haters would like to see us all at the mercy of the criminals? That’s exactly where we would all be, if the bums ever find out that we  the people are all unarmed (except of course the crooks they will always manage to acquire them) However and thank God! There are now so many reports of violent crime going down where people have voted the right to
carry into law.  There is also a lot of proof that those responsible people with guns rarely use them yours truly included. I will however (the bleeding hearts will now howl) may the good Lord keep the occasion from ever arising, if anyone trys to harm my wife or myself I will take a great deal of satisfaction in introducing them to the brothers Smith &
Wesson. I might add that at my tender age of seven decades plus, I have never seen a gun do harm to anyone (a small number of accidents aside) unless there is a nut behind it pulling the trigger. I will leave you and your readers with this thought that a policeman friend of mine told me to never forget. Use it if you must to protect yourself, cause it's better to be tried by twelve than carried by six.  Bill Rouchell

Great Comments, Bill!

“Those who would see the citizens of this country fall under some worldwide jurisdiction would quickly find out that they didn’t have as much power as they think they have. The elites who control every aspect of our lives by holding the purse strings of debt would be all but silenced while we set about to reestablish a monetary system of exchange that did not abide a cashless philosophy, horrendous taxation to run an immoral machine of evil control over us all. They could take their secret meetings and their inhuman agendas for world control and stuff them where the sun don’t shine, because a truly free people would never be duped by their arrogant wealth manipulations.”

THIS IS PRICELESS! It was written by an 8-year-old, Danny Dutton of Chula Vista, CA, for his third-grade homework assignment. The assignment was to explain God.
Wonder if any of us could do as well?"

EXPLAIN GOD
One of God's main jobs is making people. He makes them to replace the ones that die, so there will be enough people to take care of things on earth. He doesn't make grown-ups, just babies. I think because they are smaller and easier to make. That way He doesn't have to take up His valuable time teaching them to talk and walk. He can just leave that to mothers and fathers.

God's second most important job is listening to prayers. An awful lot of this goes on, since some people, like preachers and things, pray at times beside bedtime. God doesn't have time to listen to the radio or TV because of this. God sees everything and hears everything and is everywhere, which keeps Him pretty busy. So you shouldn't go wasting His time by going over your Mom and Dad's head asking for something they said you couldn't have.

Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church.  Jesus is God's Son. He used to do all the hard work like walking on water and performing miracles and people finally got tired of Him preaching to them and they crucified Him. But He was good and kind, like His
Father and He told His Father that they didn't know what they were doing and to forgive them and God said "O.K."  His Dad (God) appreciated everything that He had done and all His hard work on earth so He told Him He didn't have to go out on the road anymore.
He could stay in heaven. So He did. And now He helps His Dad out by listening to prayers and seeing things which are important for God to take care of and which ones He can take care of Himself without having to bother God. like! a secretary, only more important. You can pray anytime you want and they are sure to help you because they got it worked out so one of them is on duty all the time.

You should always go to church on Sunday because it makes God happy, and if there's anybody you want to make happy, it's God. Don't skip church to do something you think will be more fun like going to the beach. This is wrong. And besides the sun doesn't come out at the beach until noon anyway.

If you don't believe in God, besides being an atheist, you will be very lonely, because your parents can't go everywhere with you, like to camp, but God can. It is good to know He's around you when you're scared in the dark or when you can't swim and you get thrown into real deep water by big kids.

But...you shouldn't just always think of what God can do for you.  I figure God put me here and He can take me back anytime He pleases.

And...that's why I believe in God.

Remembering - not blaming! Way back in my day, the majority of high school graduates could read, write and do sums (that's math for you younger folks).Thirty years ago, they were still graduating, but most couldn't do any of those things well. Today, not even the teachers thanks to NEA and others, lack the ability to spell or teach. However our children are better behaved and docile today. Could it be the fact that today’s teachers would rather medicate than tolerate even mildly off center behavior  (called normal kid things) of the kids. I have been told that this medical (DRUG) solution is used far more than it was just a few years ago. Our dollar, now worth a fraction of what it was twenty
years ago, is dropping and sinking fast, sure leads to a bleak future for those on limited incomes. Is there any need to mention what our lax immigration policies have done to our homeland security, yours and mine! I wish our young people and oldsters alike would give this some thought. Please think about this. It's your country and your life and
future.....Amo Veritas

Immigrants Assimilate or Isolate?

This question needs to be presented to all immigrants legal or illegal.  I am in no way xenophobic but strongly feel these people come here for a variety of reasons.  The paramount one being to partake of all the benefits this country has to offer.  However these immigrants, with very few exceptions, prefer to ignore our customs and the use of English by continued use of their own language. This is easy for them to accomplish by forming their own enclaves, leaving these groups unable to assimilate themselves into American society or wishing to!  The end result is going to be the Balkanizing of America................Bill Rouchell

Well what a joy! Even though Michael Skakle is just a branch of the Kennedy family, it's a joy to see justice being done. Though, when it's over I think the Kennedy money will help him beat the rap. Too bad that the ghost of Mary Jo can't come back to grab ole Teddy - you remember he's the one who flunked his Red Cross life saving test so he wasn't able to go to her rescue while she drowned. My grandmother was right - "God never sleeps"................Bill Rouchell

Courteous Response To Stacey

Hi Stacy, This is one of those old timers you refer to. I was born in 1928, the time when our country was in the hands of that master of political chicanery and liberalism, and FDR, who was at the helm of our country, was taking us down the path to socialism. Did you know that the genesis of our money problems, for instance, emanates from his taking our country off the gold standard, leaving us with the currency we have today backed by nothing.  You see another Demo. administration even took us off the silver standard leaving us with paper that is only as good as the faith we have in it.  We had the liberal Democrats in power in this country for close to fifty years, and their main objective seemed to be, at least to me, advance socialism and to dumb down our kids, (check the history of education in this country - the 60's would be a good place to start) which
added to their voting base. There are so many things, (NO space to list them all) which have to change to get us back on the right track!

Here's a suggestion why don't you intelligent young people rise up off your collective derrières and out vote the functionally illiterate who do vote the bidding of the liberal democrats in this county. Then and only then will this country get back to the close to utopia it once was. That most assuredly means getting rid of this PC garbage we are putting up with today.

Stacey, I must add to this already heavy tome - your reference to the fifty's. There were soooo many old fogies busy fighting in places I'm sure you have heard of, WW2-Korea- Nam- so you see, though this is no excuse, that most of which should have been resisted by you young at home was ignored. I close now and hope Deb won't have me arrested for being too windy.

PS. We old timers are on the way out.  Hope you all will do better in turning our grand old republic around.

With respect,

Bill Rouchell, River Ridge, La.

Hi Deb,

Again here I am with some more view points and some history of myself. I am second generation 1938 World War I Veteran Homesteader. I served in the Korean War. I no longer farm, but I am indirectly involved in Agriculture. Four generations have lived on the homestead. In 1981 I and a friend arranged a seminar in Tulelake to try make people aware of what we thought was coming before us. Few attended. However, at the bucket brigade in Klamath Falls we had two different couples come up to us (my wife and I) and said to us ......"you told us something like this would happen if we didn't wake up." So it wasn't all in vane. We have been studying Law since 1980 - mostly Constitutional Law and Common Law. We have been on the front lines and it is not exactly any fun. We still have some unfinished business.

The real event that changed this country was in 1933. Many things happened that year and following years. In 1933 this country went bankrupt. The passing of HJR 192 turned over the public money system (the gold Standard) over to a private entity, the Federal Reserve System a debt/credit system. In 1938 the court in Erie Railroad v. Tompkins  304 U.S. 64 confirmed the above issue. We can have one or the other, but not both. Government A or Government B. Government A is a Constitutional REPUBLIC and Government B is the Socialist government. As per the Article IV, Section 3, cl. 2 of the U.S. Constitution is the part that gave you a choice. The Constitution constrains the government, the first ten Amendments or the Bill of Rights are for the people. We need to get right and use the Constitution against the government for violating it. Engage the Bill of Rights, the first 10 Amendments. Remember, "When the student is ready the teacher will appear." I am just a student and still learning. For starters learn and take Article IV, Section 3, Cl. 2 of the Constitution, all the first 10 of the Bill of Rights and Titles, backed by the 2nd Amendment and stop this land grab, and ESA and other groups, bad part(s) of this bureaucracy that is having a run away. Remember, it is our choice! It is time to put the blame where it belongs. As for us, we want a REPUBLIC as it was originally set up. Ben Franklin said here it is .... if you can keep it. Thanks for letting me vent.   Lewie

Previous Feedback

I wrote an article for Ether Zone this week and received some very thoughtful comments in feedback.  Thank you kind folks for your appreciation and for keeping all of us who write on our toes!

Hi Deb,

I enjoyed this article very much, but would like to make some comments. These old- timers you are talking about are actually the ones that sealed the fate of the younger generations. Right now I am 34 years old, and there was no political chance to change what was going down in our government when my time to vote came along. It was the years from around 1905 to 1950 that really screwed this country. Obviously their effects would not be seen until later, but the precedents were set and the socialists were let in. So yes, today’s generation are blind and ignorant, but some of the blame must go to those who had the chance to keep things straight but were sloth instead. Of course some of that was by design, which is not an excuse.

Stacey

Damn Deb that was great. You managed to put to word a lot of what I have been thinking of late. For me they were swine for you sheep. Having lost my father two years ago a marine purple of heart recipient I think of all MY missed opportunities and we led a life of what sometimes might have passed as strangers. We were able to make peace but there was so much left unsaid. I am thankful ma is around for me to learn from and to love. Never too old to teach or to be taught, I enjoyed the words, Deb, but the tone of your column was outstanding. Thanks for another fine read.           Dave

What’s On Your Mind?

This is where thoughtful remarks about current events will be published.  I am proud to say many of our readers are not lazy folks who sit around waiting to be told what to think.  You are thinkers and writers too!  Here are your thoughts!

Tom Ridge, our Home Security Adviser, (soon to be elevated to cabinet status) speaking from his home on Mount Olympus, (he often tries to come across as God like), has rejected terrorist profiling by uttering these highly profound words. "To those Americans who would lash out at your fellow citizens simply because they worship, dress, and look different than most Americans - there is a word for such behavior: TERRORISM,"

Ridge said all this (when appointed to his make a place for Ridge job). Now I wonder how and when these princes in government get the right to say to us plebeians, "Liberty is the most precious gift we offer to our citizens. I have been operating under a really false premise that my liberty and that of the rest of us citizens is an unalienable right from our God.  I also feel that government is here to protect that right, not for bureaucrats to dish it out like manna from heaven to it's poor benighted children.

Having said this, my suggestion to Mr. Ridge would be to never offend those thin skinned folks again by confining their scrutiny to only looking for red headed Martians with four arms. Never again, God forbid, seek out those bearded folks with towels wrapped around their heads!.........Bill Rouchell

Democrats and their sycophantic followers are destroying our national will to produce, so that so many of us work harder and longer for less and less. Checked your tax liability lately? I know that the Republicans will not destroy the grip of the Democrats on the throats of productive America. I feel however they will slow America's forward motion toward economic and cultural chaos.

I for one have learned, and I hope that this feeling is shared by more and more of our people than are willing now to admit it. There is a huge philosophical difference between Republicans and Democrats. Their supporters prove it. The competent, productive people, who make their own way in the world of business and life, back Republicans. There are no hands in the inverted position with these producers and entrepreneurs. On the other hand, without trying to be too unkind, Democrats are backed by the dregs of society and a horde of immigrants. Many who can't speak our language, or have the slightest idea what this country is all about. Also the welfare mothers, monkey-like union thugs, and a teachers’ union that are more concerned with their position at the public trough rather than educating our children. Then we have a collection of bureaucrats all dependent upon the power and force of government to get whatever can be squeezed out of the producers in our society! Democrats don't give a tinker’s damn about the blacks and Hispanics (PC is minorities) that they use as for their propaganda. Living well and high on the hog at the expense of everyone else is their thing......... Bill Rouchell

Feel Safer Yet? No Guns for Pilots I am most certain that we now have the inmates running the asylum. John Magaw, who got his previous job from that paragon of government, Bill Clinton, has decided in front of the whole world, (terrorists take notice) that pilots, men who for the most part were trained in the use of firearms while serving in the military, will not be armed. Mr. Magaw, who strikes me as another of those lobotomized horses backsides, inhabits lotus land on the Potomac. This gent, who doesn't give a tinkers damn for the American flying public, will be doing all his flying in safe, military aircraft. I am sure if he were made to ride along with us plebeians he would change his tune. I am very disappointed with our President who allowed this Clinton
follower to take this course. Flying now could be like buying a ticket on the lottery.

I read J.J.'s article this morning and I will tell you he hit on the nail head. Whitey had better wake up. Three of the best issues in claiming your property rights is:  Article 4, Sec. 3, cl 2, and the 4th and 5th Amendments of the bill of rights are the tools to help straighten out entities including government agencies. These are being used in different spots around the nation and are stopping the taking of property. Knowing how to use the Constitution is our only defense.

Also this homeland defense Bush wants to start up is another boondoggle.

Catholic Priests -

As a 78-year-old Catholic, I am among the many dismayed, disgusted, and am almost ready to blow my top at the goings on of the hierarchy of the church.  Starting with Cardinal Law & his underlings in Boston, they should all have the honorifics "D.C", for 'degenerate criminal' after their name!  It's the same here in the New Orleans archdiocese - only a little more surprising than Boston; an area that elects and keeps in office degenerate, (a much under-used word in this country), politicians at virtually every level. .
To some extent I blame the fathers of the young boys abused -- they are in effect 'pimps'; someone who makes money off someone else's body.  They should have taken a blow torch to the degenerate criminals!  NO jury (except in MA perhaps) would ever convict them for anything so justifiable --- if minorities can get away with assault for hearing
'fighting words' it's obvious the blow torch procedure would be justifiable -- agree ??

Please see if you can use your forum to get some lawyers interested in having parishioners sue them for 'Theft by Fraud'!!  How many diocesan fund drives were conducted for "whatever needed cause" and it, or much of the $$ was paid to cover up the crimes.  For some wishful thinking, some friends and I have said that it would be in the best interests of the whole Christian community in America if Law, his accomplices, et al
could be convicted and sent to prison in Louisiana at Angola, the state pen -- if there's not enough room, send the overflow to Parchman in Mississippi ... That would do more than get the yet un-caught criminals-with-collars thinking about leaving the country, or perhaps hiding out at the Kennedy compound? (another holy shrine in  MA)
Thanks for your article, keep on keeping on......   John Maggiore –

John,

I feel your frustrations. I'm not so sure about your thoughts about fathers leaving children in the so-called sacred hands of the church.  If you can't leave your child in the church to learn morals and right from wrong, where do you leave them?

If you or I sexually abuse an underage child just once we're going to jail with a lifelong tag of pedophile.  We won't be welcome in any neighborhood anywhere!  Why does the Catholic church think it's okay to abuse one child but not more than one?  Why not just one murder but not more than one?

Jim.

DOC-

As a retiree of 78, your article about Doc brought back so many memories of our doctor in Kenner, LA, in the 30s....  during flu season especially, he had concocted his only liquid medicine, cough syrup that was not only effective but was easy to take.  He carried it in the back seat of his car in a big metal crock, from which he put it into appropriate sized medicine bottles for the required dosage. He also had his own 'flu pills' which seemed to work well in concert with the medicine.

His wife used to give piano lessons and if you were lucky while waiting for your appointment/visit, you could pick up some pointers on playing the piano.

I like your style and look forward to seeing more of your articles...am passing this one on to my  group..   John Maggiore in River Ridge, LA
